Masks have been used since antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes. everywhere in the world, whatever the ethnicity, people use it themselves(metaphorically or literally) for many reasons. although nowadays, the only mask i regularly see people use are dead or existing dead presidents for Halloween. alright. i'm bored. time to hibernate.:)
